Team Building Wheel Throw

Service Description

Wheel-throw pottery as a team building experience is a load of fun and will help your team understand better how to listen and follow instructions, how to communicate with each other, how to recognize each others strengths and how to create something together. Whether your team has had experience on a pottery wheel or not, each individual will gain something from this experience. This session is for TEAMS UP TO 10 MEMBERS. See note at the bottom for larger groups. Choose two of the following activities at checkout. All clay, tools, materials and glazings are included in each session. You or your team can choose from the available glaze selections at the end of our session. We also encourage you to "name" the pots. The name will be carved into the bottom of each piece. Pieces will be available for pick-up in 2-3 weeks. OPTION 1: Musical Wheels- Just like the game of musical chairs, team members will work on a wheel until the music stops. They will move to the next wheel as quickly as possible and continue where the last person left of. As pieces are completed and cut off the wheel head, another ball of clay starts again. The goal? How many finished pieces can the team complete all together. The catch? Only vessels that hold liquid count! OPTION 2: Tag Team Throwing- 2 team members share the same pottery wheel. After a quick cylinder demonstration they will work together to complete each of the steps to create a cylinder. This is a timed exercise with quantity and quality being the goal. Criteria: is it a cylinder, does it hold water, did it make it off the wheel without collapsing? OPTION 3: Blind-folded Team Throwing- Teams work in groups of 2 or 3 with one team member blind-folded and hands on the clay. The other team members offer instructions and advice without touching the clay or the blind-folded thrower. Each team member must take a turn being at the wheel blind-folded. The goal? One 4 inch tall cylinder. IMPORTANT NOTES: -If the dates and times available do not fit your schedule, call or text Cindy at 936-800-8587.
