Getting Muddy: Date Nights/Small Groups

Service Description

Ages 14+ Minimum of 4 participants to carry class. Gather your friends and sign-up together. Please note: If the dates and times available do not fit your schedule, call or text Cindy at 435-469-1474 to schedule a Getting Muddy session for your group of 4-6 people. This will be a fun night with your date or group of friends. You will get to experience the thrill of creating small vessels on an electric pottery wheel. This class is more than the pretense of wheel-throw pottery. You will be instructed and then able to create food safe pottery, largely unassisted. The class fee includes ALL your pieces, fired and glazed! This experience is for anyone who has never tried "throwing," anyone who has tried and had a not-so-great experience, and anyone who has had success throwing on a pottery wheel currently or in the past. WHAT TO EXPECT: The instructor will demonstrate the process of forming a simple cylinder on the wheel and talk about each step. They will then walk the group through each step together. After the demonstration, you will have time to make more pieces using the skills you just learned. Most participants average 2-5 pots during the class with minimal instructor assistance. After clean-up, you get to choose a glaze color for each piece you create. The studio staff will then complete the process of firing and glazing and the pots will be ready for pick-up in about 2 weeks. If you are out of the area, arrangements can be made for shipping for an additional fee. IMPORTANT NOTES: All skills levels welcome. Be patient with the clay and with yourself. FUN is the goal, not perfection! Participants must be at least 14 years old, NO exceptions. NO spectators. Cost is $40 per participant. No refunds given for no-show. Please contact us 24 hours prior to the class to cancel or reschedule. All materials are provided. Clay and glazes are food safe and can be used in the microwave, oven and dishwasher. Please wear clothing and shoes that can get muddy, we are MUDDY PANTS POTTERY for a reason. Tie long hair back securely. All pieces created during the session will be fired, glazed and ready for pickup in about 2-3 weeks.
