Service Description

PLEASE REVIEW ALL INFORMATION BEFORE BOOKING THIS CLASS: Seniors, middle aged, young adults, teens and kids! This class is for everyone! 8 and older recommended and must be able to follow instructions. Kids up to 7 MUST have an adult helper, you only pay for the child. Kids under 3 not recommended but if you bring them you can expect to have a fun time with more of a mess than a tree, LOL. Minimum of 4 participants to carry class. Gather your family and friends and sign-up together. Notice of any cancellation will be given 24 hours in advance. This is a fun activity with your family, date or group of friends! You will get to experience the thrill of using an electric pottery wheel to create a Christmas tree. This class is kind of an introductory taste of playing on the pottery wheel. You will receive step by step instructions on how to make the tree. You will add final details like a star on top or little ornament balls around the tree, maybe even a bit of garland. The class fee includes a second session to apply glaze and additional details to your creation. WHAT TO EXPECT: WEEK ONE: The instructor will demonstrate the process of forming the tree. Everyone will then walk through the steps with assistance, if needed, from the studio staff. After the tree is shaped, additional details can be added with additional clay. The clay will then need to dry for a few days and the studio staff will do a final prep on the trees and fire them to bisque. WEEK TWO: Each participant will apply glazes to the bisque-fired trees, adding color and decoration to their tree. Again the trees will need to dry then a staff member will apply a clear coat and fire it again. Completed trees will be ready for pick up after about a week. IMPORTANT NOTES: All skills levels welcome. Be patient with the clay and with yourself. FUN is the goal, not perfection! We love WONKY trees! NO spectators. Cost is $40 per participant. No refunds given for no-show. Please contact us 24 hours prior to the class to cancel or reschedule. All materials are provided. Please wear clothing and shoes that can get muddy, we are MUDDY PANTS POTTERY for a reason. Tie long hair back securely. All pieces created during the session will be fired and ready for pickup about a week after the glazing session.
